Confident Beginner - Free Motion Quilting Foundations Class

If you are fearful about free motion quilting or feel this is a weak skill and you need some tips and practice, then this is the workshop for you. In this workshop, there will be several demonstrations and an opportunity for students to practice each demo until they are feeling much more comfortable with their free motion quilting skills. Each student will be given a FREE pattern to complete a small quilt. All of the right supplies, tools and tips will be discussed. Yes you can free motion quilt!

Cost: The class fee is just $60 per person + materials (see below)

Materials:

• The Free Motion Quilting  “Mondrian” Style Mini Quilt (free pattern available for download after class registration) sandwiched and ready to quilt OR  2 -18” solid cotton quilt sandwiches  (cotton solids please)
• Sewing machine in good working order- please bring your machine manual
• A free motion foot  (this must fit your machine)
• Lower feed dog function on your machine is a must
• Quality thread to contrast but compliment your fabric so that we can see your tension
• Machine Quilting needles Schmetz 75 quilting or Microtex 80
• 505 quilt basting spray or quilters basting pins
• A notebook/paper, pencil and a black thin sharpie marker
• Erasable fabric marking pen- Wash out blue and/ or Clover Chaco Liner
• Small stencil to fit in a 10” block (see sample in store)
• 6" x 12” quilting ruler
• scissors
• Your lunch/snack
• A willingness to have fun!
