Quilting - Intro to Ruler Work for Domestic Machine Quilting

This workshop is designed to teach you to understand how to work with the new, exciting and very popular rulers for domestic sewing machines including brands such as Westalee, Handiquilter, Bernina, Angela Walters, Amanda Murphy Good Measure Rulers and more. You will be shown how to master setting up your sewing machine and ruler foot. Handouts and tips for success will be shared along with step-by-step instructions for each style of ruler. Demonstrations and practice time will be allowed for students to create additional patterns to make the most of using their rulers. 

**Robin shares her rulers so if you have a limited collection, it’s no problem at all and you will have an opportunity to see what kinds of rulers you love.

Cost: The class fee is just $60 per person + materials (see below)

Materials:

• Sewing machine in good working order
• The ability to lower your feed dogs and free motion quilt with your machine
• Ruler Foot for low shank or high shank (please insure you have the correct one for your machine). Bernina owners will need to get a ruler foot from a Bernina dealer
• Minimum of 2 -Domestic Machine Quilting Rulers of your choice (Robin will show you how to use an assortment of rulers including but not limited to: Westalea (inside designs and outside design template style, straight edge, curved edge and spiralling), Handi Quilter machine quilting rulers, Angela Walters & Bernina domestic quilting rulers- Demonstration style teaching
• Extension table for your machine (makes it easier to quilt)
• 8 -12” Quilt sandwiches 12 x12 “ Solid coloured 100% cotton fabric (front, backing and batting)
• Thread to contrast your fabric (we want you to be able to see your stitches and tension)- 40 or 50wt 
• Mark B Gone or Frixion Marking Pens
• Note Pad and Paper 
• Machine Quilting Needles size 75-80 recommended
• Quilting Gloves (recommended)
• Supreme Slider (recommended)
• Ruler grips (optional)
• 505 Basting spray (optional) or quilt basting pins
• 6 x 24” ruler, rotary cutter
• Your Lunch
• Enthusiasm :-)
